The Federal Capital Territory’s new minister, Nyesom Wike, has issued a warning to anyone whose property violates the FCT’s master plan: it will be demolished.
On Monday in Abuja, the former governor of Rivers State made these remarks upon taking office as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
He promised that any illegal buildings, no matter who the owners might be in society, would be torn down by his administration.

To the people misrepresenting Abuja’s master plan, Wike stated, “Too bad!” Knowingly constructing in a restricted area will result in its destruction.
“Whether you are a minister or an ambassador, if you discover that you have grown in an inappropriate place, your home will fall.
Those who have encroached upon our parks in order to construct structures here must park here. We need to restore the grassy regions. To loathe green is to despise oneself.
We do not approve of the fact that you have set your shop in parks and other green areas. It’s going to fall.
“And to all those engaged in land racketeering, your time has come and gone. And the land that the government gave them but they didn’t build on is now gone.
I don’t see how you can pay N200,000 for land and then find someone to buy it from you for N2 billion. So I’m canceling them. Who would do something like that?
We’ll reclaim our land and give it to builders who wish to improve it. And you have to agree to grow up by a specific date.
