The Rivers State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Nnabuike Imegwu has said that the abduction of Mr. Freddy Ndigbara a Director in the Ministry was politically motivated.
Dr. Imegwu stated this when he paid a solidarity visit to Mrs. Ndigbara in company of the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Emilia Teetito, Directors and Heads of Departments in the Ministry recently.
Speaking, the Commissioner said ‘‘these are trying moments in the life of the State and a trying season because we know the much we know nobody needs to tell us, or do we need to consult anybody.
What has happened has happened, they are trying to do what they are doing, it is politically motivated, he added.
He commended Mrs. Ndigbara’s courage and braveness and called on the abductors to release him unconditionally and assured her of Government’s effort to secure his release.
In her words of encouragement, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Emilia Teetito urged Mrs. Ndigbara to hold on to God, she prayed that his captors release him alive, strong and healthy.
Mrs. Ndigbara in her response thanked the Commissioner and his entourage for the visit. She said the visit has further strengthened her and also assured her, that her husband belonged to a family.
Mrs. Ndigbara who is a staff of the State House of Assembly thanked the State Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for being a strong pillar of supports since the incidence.
Mr. Ndigbara was abducted on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Kanni in Khana Local Government Area in Rivers State.
