Kaduna State’s Governor Uba Sani has urged his fellow Nigerian elite to forge a shared vision for the country’s future.
Speaking to the people of Kaduna State on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the country’s independence, he remarked that in 1960, when the country gained its independence, the people had high hopes for the future, and that the founding fathers had hoped for Nigeria to become the Leading Black Nation on Earth.
He expressed sorrow that despite 63 years of independence, ethnic and religious distinctions were still being used to further individual and group goals.
The infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, and security are all areas where we are still battling,” he lamented. Politicians have legitimate concerns about the rising poverty rate.
According to the Governor, the country’s security challenges could be mitigated if its citizens came together to support the security forces in their fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities, as well as if the country resumed its peacekeeping and enforcement roles in West Africa and Africa.
He assured the people of Kaduna State that his administration will do everything in its power to restore their faith in government and secure the state by prioritizing the interests of the underprivileged.
He went on to form the Financial Inclusion and Literacy Committee to guarantee that those living in rural areas who are poor, vulnerable, or underserved receive assistance from state and federal social intervention programs.
Our administration places a high priority on bringing about change in rural areas. By investing heavily in infrastructure, we hope to reinvigorate rural economies. We intend for the state government to be felt by every resident. We won’t abandon any region of the state.
We want Kaduna State to once again serve as a cultural crossroads for all Nigerians. To realize our vision for the Kaduna State, we need the help and participation of all of our citizens,” he said.
