On Monday, the government of Katsina State said that it had completed plans to give special allowances to Friday Mosque clerics, their deputies, Mua’dhins (callers of prayer), and Ward Heads in an effort to encourage people to participate in the battle against insecurity.
The governor of the state, Dikko Radda, disclosed this information after inaugurating the Steering Committees for the Katsina Community Watch Corps, KCSWC. Nevertheless, the governor did not mention Christian clerics in the proposed allowance.
According to a statement released by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ibrahim Kaula-Mohammed, who is also known as CPS, the governor was cited as adding that the committee would coordinate with other security officers to search for bandits across the state.

According to him, the steering committee for each of the state’s 34 Local Government Areas includes the Chairman of the Council, the District Head, the Divisional Police Officer, and officials from a variety of security organizations.
Other individuals include, according to him, two representatives of the business community and representatives of several religious sects.
The Governor stated that the committee will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the operation of the KCSWC in their respective areas, as well as submitting monthly reports to the Commissioner for Internal Security.
Earlier, Dr. Nasiru Mu’azu-Danmusa, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, had stated that the overall level of insecurity in the State was gradually decreasing ever since the establishment of the KCSWC.
In their respective statements, representatives of the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Aminu Nuhu-Abdulkadir, and retired Justice Saddik Abdullahi-Mahuta praised the governor for taking measures to combat the state’s pervasive state of insecurity.
Both Nuhu-Abdulkadir, who serves as the District Head of Rimi, and Abdullahi-Mahuta, who serves in the same capacity for Malumfashi, have expressed their commitment to providing the committee with the ongoing assistance of the traditional rulers.
