The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has refuted allegations made by the Nigeria Police Force regarding its involvement in the murder of Eze Joe Ochulor, the traditional ruler of Otulu Community in Amaumara Mbaise, Imo State.
In a statement released on Thursday by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, the group vehemently denied any connection to the monarch’s murder, labeling the police’s claims as “incoherent and disjointed.”
According to Powerful, the Nigerian Police had alleged that suspected IPOB members were linked to the murder of Eze Joe Ochulor.

The police further claimed that the assailants may have targeted the traditional ruler due to his association with an individual named Chidiebere, who sought the monarch’s protection after allegedly receiving threats from IPOB members.
“The global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, ably led by our unbroken and never-say-die leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wishes to debunk the Nigerian Police’s incoherent and disjointed story of IPOB’s involvement in the alleged murder of the kidnapped Imo State monarch,” the statement from IPOB read in part.
IPOB’s denial and rebuke of the police’s accusations underscore the ongoing tensions between the group and security forces in the region.
The statement from IPOB serves as a public assertion of innocence and a rejection of any involvement in the tragic incident.
