The leadership of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in Osun State has been given a seven-day ultimatum by the World Institute for Peace to call off their ongoing strike or face legal consequences.
This ultimatum was issued by the World Institute for Peace, a Non-Governmental Organisation, during a press conference in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.
Lamina Omotoyosi, the Executive Director of the World Institute for Peace, emphasized the importance of a functional judiciary system in upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for all citizens.

Omotoyosi stated that the ongoing strike by JUSUN in Osun State had disrupted the judicial process, denying citizens their right to a fair and timely trial.
He highlighted that such actions undermine the principles of justice and hamper the overall functioning of the legal system.
The World Institute for Peace issued a stern warning, giving JUSUN a seven-day ultimatum to call off the strike and resume their duties immediately.
The organisation stressed the significance of dialogue and negotiation in resolving disputes but indicated that failure to comply with the ultimatum would result in legal action against JUSUN.
The strike by JUSUN in Osun State began following complaints of mishandling of their members by personnel of the Osun State Police Command, who were reportedly protecting the state’s Chief Judge, Oyebola Adepele Ojo, and preventing her from accessing her office.
The union had also protested in November, demanding action against allegations of mismanagement and maladministration against Justice Ojo.
