The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has dismissed rumors suggesting that it instructed members to boycott today’s local government elections across the state’s 23 local government areas.
State Chairman of the PDP, Edward Masha, clarified the party’s position during an interview with journalists in Kafanchan, the headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area, stating that neither his office nor the party endorsed any call for a boycott.
Masha explained: “While our agents were inspecting sensitive materials at the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM) office in Kaduna, we discovered that one of the most critical items—the result sheets—was missing, which is a major irregularity.”

He further alleged that two weeks ago, he had raised concerns over attempts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to manipulate the elections.
According to Masha, the APC tried to introduce a clause into the SIECOM guidelines that could alter the process of announcing election results.
“The PDP will remain resolute until all essential materials are accounted for, to ensure the elections are conducted fairly,” Masha declared.
He also described the irregularities as signs of electoral fraud by the APC, warning that such actions threaten the integrity of democracy in Kaduna State.
Masha urged all PDP members to participate fully in the elections, calling on them to avoid actions that could disrupt public order.
“We encourage our supporters to come out en masse and exercise their franchise peacefully across all local government areas in the state,” he added.
