The Kaduna State Police Command announced the detention of two suspected railway track vandals and the recovery of 40 iron rods on Saturday.
Police spokesperson ASP Mansir Hassan confirmed the arrests on Sunday, explaining that the incident occurred in Gnami village, Kagarko Local Government Area, after a member of the local vigilance group, Mr. Yusuf Dogo, reported suspicious activity.
“On November 4 at about 5:30 p.m., Mr. Yusuf Dogo alerted the police that he had observed suspects vandalizing a railway track at Gnami village,” Hassan said.
“Our operatives, in collaboration with vigilance group members, proceeded to the scene and apprehended two suspects breaking a concrete bridge and removing iron rods.”
The suspects were identified as Joel Musa and John Yakubu, both residents of Pakau village in Kagarko LGA.
Hassan noted that additional suspects managed to escape, but efforts are ongoing to track them down.
“Approximately 40 pieces of the vandalized iron rods are in our custody,” he added. “Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion.”
The police urged the public to provide timely and useful information to support prompt law enforcement action.
