The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected railway track vandals and the recovery of 40 pieces of iron rods on Saturday.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Kaduna.
According to Hassan, “On Nov. 4, around 17:30hrs, Mr. Yusuf Dogo, a member of the vigilance group in Gnami, Kagarko Local Government Area, reported that he had sighted individuals vandalizing a railway track in Gnami village.
Our operatives, in collaboration with the vigilance group, moved swiftly to the scene and apprehended two suspects who were breaking a concrete bridge to remove iron rods.”
Hassan identified the suspects as Joel Musa and John Yakubu, both from Pakau village in Kagarko LGA.
He noted, however, that some of the suspects managed to escape from the scene.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Approximately 40 pieces of the vandalized iron rods are in our custody,” he added.
Hassan confirmed that investigations are underway and that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
He also appealed to the public for timely and useful information to aid law enforcement efforts.
