The Kano State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has restated the enforcement of the existing ban on the conveyance of passengers on all forms of motorcycles, as well as the restriction on commercial tricycle operations between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am daily
The Command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said on Tuesday that the laws backing the bans, earlier announced by the Kano State Government, remain fully in force.
According to him, enforcement would be sustained across parts of the state including Kano Municipal, Gwale, Dala, Fagge, Nassarawa, Tarauni, Kumbotso, Ungogo (Jido Area) and Dawakin Kudu, covering locations such as Tambuwal, Gurjiya and Jido wards.

Kiyawa added that the enforcement team has the mandate to profile individuals who flagrantly defy the directive, stressing that the measure would also curb the spread of unverified and misleading information capable of causing public panic.
He warned operators that any person found conveying passengers on motorcycles or running commercial tricycle services during restricted hours would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the law.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, urged residents to comply with the regulations and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
The Commissioner also encouraged members of the public to report violations or suspicious activity to the nearest police division.
The Command said the joint security partnership incorporates the services of the Kano Road and Traffic Agency, KAROTA, to ensure full compliance with the directives for public safety.
Bakori further reassured that the enforcement drive was in the collective interest of peace, order, safety and security of all residents in Kano State.
