The Kano State Police Command has rescued a 19-year-old man, Ibrahim Abubakar from Adamawa State, who attempted to commit suicide by climbing an advertisement billboard at Ado Bayero Bridge on Monday, June 23, 2025.
The young man reportedly threatened to jump unless he was allowed to meet a popular TikTok personality, identified as Abdul BK.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Hussaini Abdullahi, the command confirmed that officers swiftly responded to the distress call and arrived at the scene in collaboration with personnel from the state Fire Service.

“Through dialogue and negotiations, the TikToker in question was brought to the scene. Upon seeing him, Ibrahim was satisfied and agreed to come down. He was successfully rescued without any injuries,” the statement read.
The police further disclosed that Ibrahim appeared weak after spending several hours on the billboard without food and was immediately rushed to the Police Hospital in Bompai for medical attention.
Commending the professionalism and timely intervention of the rescue team, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The command also warned the public against such dangerous acts, stressing that attempted suicide is a criminal offence punishable under the law.
“The Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and urges individuals battling emotional or psychological challenges to seek help from appropriate authorities or professional counselors,” the statement added.
