A report reached me from my WhatsApp contact in what could classified as inhumane handling of deportation of a Nigerian from one of the European countries (any of Germany, The Netherland or the rest). Read the piece share with me and watch the video for confirmation:
Nigerians held the Dutch KLM flight to a stand still demanding that a fellow Nigerian brought in the plane for deportation back home be taken off the plane or the plane was going no where.
What was this man’s crime? He had no documents and so he was chained like an animal. When would our government (Nigerian government) start demanding her citizens be treated like human beings. And my fellow Nigerians you see what unity brings; let us start uniting and stand up together and say enough is enough. #Man in the mirror # standing for basic human rights and good leadership!!!
According to an eye witness, he was repatriated because he did not have papers. To chain him like that is a breach of his fundamental human rights. There is international law/convention to be followed in a proper repatriation or breach of immigration laws. That is the way I see it as I have forwarded the video to the appropriate authorities in Nigeria, including my former classmate who is the Deputy Comptroller of Immigration in Nigeria – No. 2 in Nigeria.
To chain someone like that is breach of the protocols for repatriation of immigrants.
