    Kogi Elections: Dino Melaye Buys “Akara” For His Followers

    Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial DistrictAs Kogi State residents stormed voting centers in the governorship and senatorial elections in the state, Senator Dino Melaye made some fans happy by buying “akara.” for them.

    In a recent clip circulating on social media, Dino Melaye, who is contesting to represent the people of Kogi West senatorial district stopped by at the shop of a woman selling akara and bought for his followers.

    In the clip, he gave the woman her money and his followers entered the shop to collect their bean-cakes.

    Before voting began in the state on Saturday, November 16, 2019, Dino had earlier headed to his polling center at PU 004, Ayetoro ward 1 in Ijumu Local Government to bless the ballot boxes.

    We await the end of election and results.

    Kogi, is a state in the central region (Middle-Belt) of Nigeria. It is popularly called the Confluence State because of the confluence of River Niger and River Benue at its capital, Lokoja, which is the first administrative capital of modern-day Nigeria.

    Agriculture is the main part of the state economy with fishing in the riverine areas like Lokoja, Idah, Baji,etc., and the state also has coal, petroleum, steel and other mineral industries.

    The main ethnic groups are Igala, Ebira, and Okun.

    The state was created in 1991 from parts of Kwara State and Benue State. The state as presently constituted, comprises the people of the Kabba Province of Northern Nigeria. One of the first Qadi in the Kogi State was Faruk Imam.
