The Kwara State Police Command has denied reports alleging that Boko Haram suspects were arrested in Ilorin, describing the information circulating on social media as false and misleading.
The command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

“The Kwara State Police Command wishes to categorically debunk the false and misleading information currently circulating on social media alleging that operatives of the command arrested a group of Boko Haram suspects within the Ilorin metropolis,” the statement read.
According to the police, officers attached to the Violent Crime Response Unit only intercepted a truck carrying Fulani travellers during a routine security patrol in Ilorin on Tuesday night.
The command explained that the travellers and the vehicle were searched and screened as part of standard security procedures.
“Following comprehensive checks, no incriminating item, weapon, or security threat was discovered on any of the occupants,” the police stated.
The travellers reportedly informed officers that they were heading to Jigawa State and were subsequently allowed to continue their journey after proper documentation.
The police command also warned residents against spreading unverified information capable of causing panic and tension among members of the public.
In a separate operation, the command said it arrested three suspected armed robbers and vandals around the Asa Dam-Dangote Road area of Ilorin.
According to the police, the suspects were linked to the destruction of government solar light installations and robbery activities in the area.
The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Adekimi Ojo, commended the intelligence-led operation and assured residents of the command’s continued commitment to tackling crime across the state.
