He was delighted that the construction of the bridge had created hundreds of direct and indirect jobs for the youths in Nasarawa and Benue States.
Mr. Maku described President Jonathan as an agent of change who had reformed the economy for development to thrive and attracted private investment to the tune of N28 Trillion in three years.
He said, in addition to the construction of roads and bridges across the country, the President had revived trains services, constructed 10 new power plants, inland waterways and ports, and established thirteen universities as well as one hundred and twenty-five Almajiri schools in a bid to improve the social and economic well-being of the people.
While addressing the residents of Mararaban Udege and Agwada in Nasarawa State, who are part of the communities benefitting from the construction of the Oweto Bridge, Information Minister, Mr. Labaran Maku announced that contract for the construction of the access road to the bridge from Nasarawa to Loko was contained in the 2014 budget.
In addition, he said, contract for the rehabilitation of the road between Keffi and Nasarawa would be awarded soon.
Mr. Maku therefore, enjoined the people of the State to shun violence by remaining peaceful and co-exist in harmony with one another for development to take place in their communities.
