Manchester United defender Alexander Buttner will not be leaving the club in the January transfer window, according to his agent, despite the Dutchman receiving offers from ‘all over Europe’.
.
The 24-year-old has made just one Premier League start for the champions this season and, with Patrice Evra ahead of him, there appears to be little chance of Buttner’s role becoming more prominent.
.
Add to that the interest of Manchester United in Everton left-back Leighton Baines and Buttner’s days at Old Trafford would appear to be numbered. His agent, however, believes otherwise.
.
Given the lack of game time he is being afforded at present there has been interest from elsewhere – most notably from Italy – but the player’s representative Alexsandar Bursac claims that does not mean he will be leaving the club.
.
“I can confirm that the lad has requests from all over Europe, Genoa is very interested in the guy, but the situation at the moment it is quite clear,” Bursac told TMW.
.
“For the time being a farewell from the Red Devils for my client is excluded.”
.
And although Bursac does concede that circumstance is subject to change before the close of the transfer window, he fully expects his client to still be a Red Devil after the deadline.
.
He added: “We will see in the next two weeks.
.
Nevertheless Buttner is fine at Manchester United and, if the club want to bet on him, the boy will be happy to stay at Old Trafford for the rest of the season.”
