The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has deployed a new Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development. The redeployment exercise involving two permanent secretaries – Dauda Kigbu and John Sunday Jegede takes effect from Friday, February 7, 2014.
The former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, John Sunday Jegede has retired from the service having attained the mandatory age of retirement, while the new Permanent Secretary, Dauda Kigbu has been moved from the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment to the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.
While handing over the office to the new Permanent Secretary in the ministry, the retiring Permanent Secretary, John Sunday Jegede thanked the management and members of staff for the support, loyalty and cooperation offered to him during his tenure as Permanent Secretary.
John Sunday Jegede described the new Permanent Secretary as a man of good works and urged the staff of the ministry to extend their kind gesture to the new Permanent Secretary.
In his remarks following the handing over, the new Permanent Secretary, Dauda Kigbu called for the spirit of team work among members of staff of the ministry towards developing the country’s minerals and metals sector in line with the transformation agenda of the present administration. He promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the growth of the sector; while commending him for the giant strides he recorded in the civil service and his noble retirement.
In his vote of thanks, the Director of the Planning, Policy Analysis and Monitoring Department of the ministry, John Mshellia on behalf of the members of staff thanked the retiring Permanent Secretary for the good working relationship they enjoyed during his tenure.
He expressed the readiness of the management and staff of the ministry to support the new Permanent Secretary in his desired goals to reposition the minerals and metals sector of Nigeria’s economy.
