The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has pledged to continue defeating what he describes as political “harlots” in Rivers State.
Wike made this statement in Port Harcourt during a special Thanksgiving event organized by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda, to celebrate his birthday and new position in the National Assembly.
Wike recalled considering Chinda as his successor in 2023, noting him as one of the best candidates.

However, he mentioned that Chinda came under pressure, leading to a change in plans.
The Minister criticized certain individuals from the Ikwerre ethnic group who expressed interest in the governorship but later retracted their statements. Wike stated, “No real Ikwerre man says that and goes back.”
He emphasized his commitment to defeating these “political harlots” and expressed confidence in his ability to overcome them.
Wike concluded by highlighting the importance of timing in political decisions, citing an Ikwerre tradition that suggests the real contenders emerge towards the end.
He urged the people to disregard those who cannot endure hardship and reiterated his determination to succeed against political opponents.
