LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwired – Mar 25, 2014) – MMRGlobal, Inc. (OTCQB: MMRF), through its wholly owned subsidiary MyMedicalRecords, Inc. (collectively, “MMR”), today announced that it has received a Notice of Allowance (“NOA”) from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 12/204,498 entitled “Method and System for Providing Online Records.” The application represents the first step in expanding MMR’s health information technology (“HIT”) Patent Portfolio from the medical profession to the legal profession. The NOA includes 28 claims directed toward accessing, collecting, storing, managing, and sharing legal documents and records. The Company believes that the new patent, when issued, will open opportunities for sales, licensing and strategic partnerships in document storage and retrieval services for companies like PACER, escrow, real estate and lending organizations and online consumer legal services, among numerous others.
MMR is a practicing entity and a leading provider of secure and easy-to-use Personal Health Records (“PHRs”) and MyEsafeDepositBox document management and storage solutions. The Company believes that online legal preparer services and prepaid legal services such as those described in the allowed patent application will become an important part of eCommerce and expanding employee benefit programs. Additionally, the need for easy-to-use IT solutions to store and manage legal and other important documents represent an opportunity for MMR by allowing individuals to take charge of their legal matters by being able to access, forward and edit them securely though MMR’s MyESafeDepositBox system.
