The Emir of Hadejia in Jigawa, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar, on Tuesday directed district heads in his domain to prevail on parents to enrol their wards in school.
He said that it was imperative for community leaders to sensitise their subjects on the need to enrol their wards in school and ensure that they stayed in school.
Abubakar spoke in his palace when district heads and other community leaders in his domain paid him Sallah homage in Hadejia.
The emir also urged parents to ensure proper moral upbringing of their children to enable them become responsible members of the
society.
“I enjoin you to strictly monitor the enrolment of children into formal and Islamic schools. You must also ensure proper orientation of youths on good moral values to build a better society,’’ he said.
Abubakar also urged farmers and herdsmen to live in peace with one another for a harmonious coexistence in the state.
The emir stressed the need for Nigerians to pray for peace and unity in the country, saying: “we must pray to end violence because no meaningful development could be achieved without peace.
“You should report any suspicious activity in your communities to the emirate council for appropriate action.“
Abubakar commended the state government for “viable projects“ it was executing to fast-track development of the state, and urged the people to protected projects located in their areas.[NAN]
