The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, has promised to resolve the grievances which arose as a result of the party’s nationwide congresses which were held few days ago.
He particularly promised to look into the crisis rocking the Ebonyi State chapter of the party.
The acting national chairman said he had directed the National Organising Secretary of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha to investigate complaints presented to him by the party stakeholders in Ebonyi led by a former Governor of the state, Dr. Sam Egwu.
The delegation of the party had called on Mu’azu in Abuja on Thursday to intervene in the crisis, but Mu’azu said “I regard Governor Martins Elechi as my father, indeed we are his children, together with the president we will call you to resolve this matter.
“I am not aware of change of guard in Ebonyi state, the rule of law must prevail, I will tell the Organizing Secretary to investigate and refer back to me”.
He added that he will direct the one meant for President Goodluck Jonathan to him; promising to get back to the aggrieved party chieftains thereafter.
Leader of the delegation, Egwu, had earlier complained that a cabal had flouted the party guidelines, adding that if care was not taken, the party would have problems during the 2015 general elections.
“We are here believing that justice and equity in our party will be achieved, we believe father protects his children from arbitrariness and from suppression”, he said.
He explained that the PDP guidelines for congresses and primaries have reportedly been abused in Ebonyi state.
He also alleged that the state chapter of the party only gave forms to their cronies. “Forms were selected and given to individuals because party leadership at the state hand-picked aspirants”, the ex-governor said.
Also speaking, the Speaker, Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Chukwuma Nwazunku appealed to Mu’azu to tell Governor Elechi to listen to voice of reason; “he started very well and we appeal to you to advise him to listen to voice of reason”.
The entourage included the State Deputy Governor, Chief Dave Umahi, Senator Igwe Paulinus, Senator Offia-Nwali and other stalwarts of the party in Ebonyi state.
