President Mohammadu BuhariThe Nigerian government has been forced to buy warplanes and helicopters from Russia and Pakistan due to the refusal of the US to sell weapons to the country.

The US has refused to lift a ban placed on the sale of weapons to Nigeria due to allegations of human rights abuse levelled against the country’s security agencies.

The disclosure was made to BBC by Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar.

Abubakar said further that the warplanes and helicopters had been ordered, and would be delivered to the country soon.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army was recently accused of killing 150 pro-Biafra protesters in the country’s Eastern region.
