Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo State, has claimed that Philip Shaibu, his deputy, rigged the NYCN election in the state to help him get elected governor.
This was said by Obaseki over the weekend in Benin City during the Youth House’s celebration of International Youth Day.
The Infostride News reports that a group of young people in Edo State objected to the election of the group’s current leadership team. After the demonstration, Governor Obaseki demanded that the executive council be dissolved and new elections be held.
During the party, Obaseki brought up the conflict in the Youth Council and accused Shaibu of trying to use it to further his own ambitions.
I’m sorry about what transpired during the election for the student council. It happened behind my back. My deputy influenced your election, as you can see, since he is politically ambitious and believes he can use the council to further his own career’, he stated.
