Former Minister of police affairs and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, Adamu Maina Waziri, has said that he would ensure that the abandoned middle class and the youth group in the state are given topmost attention, if elected.
Waziri, who spoke in Damaturu, the state capital, at a rally organised in honour of President Goodluck Jonathan and other candidates of the PDP, said he weeps every time he sees “Yobe’s middle class and young minds roaming about without hope and assured future”.
According to the serial governorship contender, Yobe has the potential of growth if the right leader is in the saddle, stressing that “no society will develop when the desired leadership is missing”.
He stressed that Yobe was lagging behind in terms of social and economic development because the right leadership was not given the chance to govern the state.
Maina noted that his recurring candidature as the PDP governorship candidate (the ex-minister has contested the governorship of the state four times since 1999) was because the people of Yobe State appreciate the innate leadership qualities in him.
“The world should know that my desire to govern Yobe state was ordained by God. Therefore, I beseech you all to support this divine call”.
