ABUJA (National Planning Commission Report)
The Supervising Minister/Deputy Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Bashir Yuguda has formally launched the National SEEFOR Project on Friday May 23rd, 2014 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
During the exercise, Bashir Yuguda disclosed that the SEEFOR Project which stands for States Employment and Expenditure For Results Project (SEEFOR Project) is a project conceived by the National Planning Commission in collaboration with the World Bank Country Office and the European Union (EU) as part of the Donor Agencies’ contribution to Nigeria’s Amnesty Programme.
The Minister also noted that four States in the Niger Delta Region – Edo, Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa have been selected as the participating States based on the identified high rate of unemployment and poverty, resulting from environmental degradation due to the activities of oil companies in the area.
He further indicated that the National Coordinating and Implementation Office of the Project has been set up in the National Planning Commission. Adding, the participating States have their respective project Coordinators appointed too.
