The Commissioner of Police in Abia, Mr Ibrahim Adamu, on Friday assured the people of his readiness to improve on the security of the state.
.
Adamu, who assumed duty five days ago, gave the assurance when he paid a visit to the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
.
‘’We will improve on the tempo we met on ground because with me, we will deal ruthlessly with criminals in the state.
.
“I want to use this opportunity to warn youths to shun crime and criminality as this command will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that Abia remained safe.
.
‘’Since Abia is God’s own state, it means that it must be the most peaceful and secure state in the country,’’ Adamu said.
.
He solicited the cooperation of journalists in the task of policing the state.
.
‘’Security is everybody’s business and everybody must be involved in the fight against crime,’’ the commissioner said.
.
Responding, the state Chairman of NUJ, Mr Hyacinth Okoli, assured the commissioner of the council’s readiness to work with him to ensure success.
.
Okoli called on the commissioner to adopt an open door policy and be accessible to journalists, especially in confirming criminal occurrences in the state.
.
Adamu was the Deputy Force Secretary at the Force Headquarters, Abuja before his deployment to the state.
