According to Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defense of Nigeria, Nigeria still needs the skills and depth of experience of retired military leaders in order to face the security issues that the nation is facing.
On Saturday in Abuja, members of the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) 38 Regular Course Welfare Association hosted a dinner in honor of the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa.
Matawalle made these remarks during the course of the meal.

Even if they were transitioning into a new phase of life, the experience they had gained as military leaders over the course of their careers would continue to be valuable, he said.
He went on to say that the nation required them in their capacities as professionals and experts in order to make use of their knowledge and experience in the service of delivering solutions to the numerous problems that were plaguing the country.
According to him, it is reasonable to assume that they will now have the opportunity to take some dedicated time to reflect and think of solutions to the issues that have been raised without any interference.
“I strongly encourage you to, on a regular basis, critically brainstorm on the difficulties that our nation is currently facing with the goal of coming up with solutions that are actually implementable.
I want to reassure you that the Ministry of Defense is always ready to receive you as a group of professional thinkers to dialogue on matters of defense and security concerns in our nation. “I want to assure you that the Ministry of Defense is ever ready to receive you as a group.”
He stated, “In view of the immense training and experience of these eminent gentlemen and highly exposed security professionals, we will ensure that your time in retirement is pleasant, and we will continue to take your welfare as priority at the Ministry of Defence,” he said.
The minister stated that it was everyone’s obligation to bring the country ahead, and she added that God had already endowed Nigeria with a tremendously brilliant military officer corps.
