As part of its drive for proper information dissemination in the counter-insurgency operation in the northeast, the Nigerian Army has established a media centre for Operation Lafiya Dole in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The Centre, which was commissioned by GOC of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Lamidi Adeosun on behalf of the theatre commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Yusha’u Mahmud Abubakar, said the establishment of the media centre in Maiduguri underscores the importance of the media in the on-going war against insurgency in the country and the North-East region in particular.
Maj. Gen. Adeosun noted that the military has gained tremendously from media reports on its activities in the troubled region hence the need to take the relationship to the next level especially in the last lap of the operation.
He said the centre will attend to media 24/7 on the activities of the Army in the North-East region, specifically the counter-insurgency operation.
He added that the media is very key to the success of the operation in the troubled region and would not want to deprive them of all needed information.
The GOC, therefore, called on all media practitioners to always contact the centre for needed clarifications on the activities of the military concerning Operation Lafiya Dole.
