The Renewed Hope Initiative, a social intervention program led by Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the President, has announced a N60 million grant for women from the six southwest states.
The program aims to empower women in agriculture and support persons with disabilities in their businesses.
At the launch of the Renewed Hope Initiative Women Agricultural Support Programme in Abeokuta, Mrs. Tinubu stated that 120 women would receive N500,000 each, while 100 persons with disabilities would get N10 million to capitalize their businesses.

Mrs. Tinubu further explained that the program would collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to empower farmers, with 75% of the beneficiaries being young female farmers and 25% young male farmers.
In his remarks, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, highlighted the state’s efforts in empowering women, including the Oko’owo Dapo scheme, which has assisted over 50,000 women, and the Ogun Broiler Empowerment Scheme, benefiting over 500 women agric entrepreneurs.
Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the Ogun State coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, commended Mrs. Tinubu for supporting students interested in agriculture and emphasized the importance of empowering women in agriculture to improve the sector’s value chain.
Mrs.Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, the South West Zonal Coordinator for the Renewed Hope Initiative, noted that the support program would assist women in agriculture and improve the agriculture sector of the states.
She urged the beneficiaries to use the support judiciously to enhance their businesses and contribute to local and national food production.
