No fewer than nine surveyors have been kidnapped by gunmen while on duty at the Ilu-Abo axis in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Sources revealed that the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N100 million from the victims’ families but later reduced the amount to N50 million after negotiations.
However, despite raising N20 million, the abductors rejected the offer, insisting on full payment of the N50 million ransom.

In response to the rising cases of kidnapping and violent crimes in the state, women in Akure, the state capital, staged a protest on Tuesday, demanding urgent government intervention.
The protesters gathered at the residence of the Ejemikin of Akure, High Chief Oluwole Omotayo, before marching to the Governor’s Office at Alagbaka.
They expressed concerns over the increasing rate of abductions, attacks by suspected killer herdsmen, and other criminal activities in the state.
The women urged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to take immediate and decisive action to curb the growing insecurity in Ondo.
