Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, a chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has called on political officeholders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, state governors, and members of the National Assembly, to honor the promises made during their election campaigns.
In a statement released to coincide with the Eid Adha festival, Oguntoyinbo urged political leaders to embrace the principle of sacrifice in managing the nation’s affairs.
“Political leaders should emulate Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to Allah’s command and his fulfillment of promises made to Allah,” Oguntoyinbo stated.

He emphasized the need for leaders to make necessary sacrifices to foster national growth and prosperity.
Oguntoyinbo expressed his greetings to Muslims nationwide, wishing them a peaceful and joyous Eid el Kabir celebration despite the challenging economic climate.
“I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to rejoice in the gift of life. When we are alive, there is hope for a better tomorrow. We should be grateful to Almighty Allah for the peace we currently enjoy in our nation,” he said.
He also called on political leaders to respect and fear God in all their actions, highlighting the importance of fulfilling their campaign promises.
“Our political leaders should learn from Ibrahim’s sacrifice, where he was willing to give up his only son until Allah provided a ram in his place. No sacrifice is too great to ensure the peace and prosperity of Nigerians,” Oguntoyinbo noted.
“When leaders make the necessary sacrifices, God will intervene and bring prosperity and peace to our land.
Political leaders must remember the promises made during election campaigns and fulfill them for the electorate, who braved the elements to vote them into power.
They should work tirelessly to ensure that the masses do not suffer unnecessary hardship,” he concluded.
The statement was made available to media outlets on Sunday in Ibadan.
