The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has refuted claims that it wrote a letter to the Senate accusing the Federal Government of laying siege on Kano State.
This clarification follows a letter dated June 24 from the party’s former National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, to the Senate.
The letter, titled “Need for NNPP Federal Lawmakers to Make Urgent and Concerted Efforts to Immediately End the Siege on Kano State by Agents of the Federal Government,” alleged federal interference due to the Emirate leadership tussle in Kano.

In a statement released on Friday, NNPP National Chairman Dr. Agbo Major clarified that the letter was issued without the mandate or authorization of the party’s leadership.
“Boniface Aniebonam is the founder of the NNPP, holder of the registration certificate of the party, chairman, board of trustees, and a life member of the board.
Agbo Major is the national chairman, and Mr. Oginni Sunday is the national secretary,” the statement read.
Dr. Major emphasized that the NNPP views the Kano Emirate leadership crisis as an internal matter to be resolved by the state’s indigenes according to their culture and tradition.
He asserted that political party involvement in such issues is inappropriate and that the NNPP is committed to peace, development, and the well-being of Nigerians.
“The principle of our party remains focused on the peace of society, development, and well-being of the greater number of Nigerians,” he concluded.
