Winners will be announced during Black Hat USA 2015, August 1-6, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Women represent a growing and important force in security,” said Lisa Paul, Duo’s Vice President of Customer Success. “Duo is committing to many outreach efforts to promote diversity and bring more women into the security industry. These awards kick off those efforts by celebrating the contributions that women currently make and helping to inspire the next generation of women.”
The Women in Security Awards are open to anyone who currently identifies as a woman and is actively involved in the information security industry. The Nominating Committee will submit nominations through July 3, 2015.
The Women in Security Awards include:
- Industry Award: Recognizing a female security professional who works or volunteers on projects related to information security
- Academic Award: Recognizing a full-time female student or staff member currently enrolled in a college or university taking classes, contributing to projects, or doing research on information security
With the Academic Award, Duo hopes to inspire students and staff to get involved in information security and to promote strong academic programs related to the information security field.

Nomination details
Women may be nominated for many different types of contributions, including:
- Significant contributions to the fields of information security and privacy
- Exceptional knowledge, leadership, and professionalism in technical, academic, or commercial domains
- Community involvement in the security industry beyond day-to-day employment
- Sharing knowledge, providing mentorship, and encouraging the empowerment and success of women in the security industry and related causes
Nominees will be narrowed down to a set of finalists for both awards based on nomination criteria. A panel of judges from across the security industry will then vote to determine the winners from among the finalists selected. Winners will be announced in August at Black Hat USA 2015.
