Leaders of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Oyo State Chapter, have called for the suspension of the All Progressives Congress (APC’s) membership registration in the state.
.
This is contained in a statement signed by its former State Leader, Mr Abdur-Raheem Shittu, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Ogbomoso.
.
The group said that members of the defunct CPC in the state were totally excluded from all the membership registration’s preliminary activities.
.
“Consequently, upon the non-inauguration of the Harmonisation Committee in the state, the APC in Oyo State can be said to be non-existent.
.
“Thus, each of the legacy parties continue to hold separate meetings at State, Local Government and ward levels,” it said.
.
The group said that the legacy parties in the state had retained their respective identities, officers and meetings in the state.
.
It called on the national leadership of the party to suspend the registration exercise and take concrete and immediate steps to rectify all the anomalies and misdeeds.
.
“If our party is not to be destroyed by well-placed party leaders in the state, our leaders should take concrete and immediate action on these anomalies.
.
“It is only by so-doing that our party will take the enviable position as home to be accountable, transparent and inclusive in civil, political party governance,” the group said.
