Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, have arrested a 27-year-old mechanic, Abiodun Ajao, for allegedly stealing and dismembering a customer’s vehicle.
The suspect, who resides and works in Lagos, was apprehended in Idona, Ijebu Imusin, Ogun State, after driving the Honda car, registered as BDG 956-FJ, from Lagos.
According to the NSCDC, Ajao had already begun disassembling the vehicle for sale when he was caught. Speaking during his interrogation by officers of the Corps’ Ijebu East Central Division in Esure, Ijebu Imusin, the suspect claimed the vehicle’s engine was damaged, prompting his decision to sell its parts.

“The engine of the vehicle is bad, and I’m just trying to find some buyers for the parts since the engine is knocked and unusable,” Ajao said.
The spokesperson for the NSCDC, Dyke Ogbonnaya, disclosed that the suspect also confessed to initially receiving the vehicle for repairs.
Ajao claimed he had been test-driving it to ensure the repairs were suitable before handing it over to the owner.
“I have already driven it to some distant parts of Lagos with passengers before bringing it down to Ijebu Imusin and en route Epe road, where I was caught dismembering the engine and other parts of the vehicle,” Ajao was quoted as saying.
Ogbonnaya added that further investigations are ongoing to uncover more details surrounding the theft.
