The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun Command, says it will deploy 2, 500 officers to provide adequate security in and around the state during the forthcoming Eid-el Kabir.
It said special attention would be available to critical government infrastructure, prayer grounds, motor parks and other places that could attract high number of people during the period.
According to the command’s spokesman, Mr Dyke Ogbonnaya, the 20 Local Government Areas and the 37 Local Council Development Areas will be policed by his own men.
He said “We have noted from experience that they often attack government’s critical infrastructure and other assets like petroleum and gas pipelines and telecommunications installations at festive periods.
“The State Commandant, Mr Akinwande Aboluwaye, has advised the people to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement to the nearest NSCDC office or contact the agency through the following numbers — 08033632778, 08050726803, 07067528776,’’ he said said in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
