Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has directed security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the recent attack on Oso Edda community in Edda Local Government Area of the state.
The governor described the incident, which reportedly resulted in loss of lives and destruction of property, as barbaric and a clear disregard for the sanctity of human life.
Nwifuru, who expressed shock over the development, said the attack undermines the state government’s commitment to restoring peace across communities.

“I received with rude shock the news of the recent attack on Oso Edda which claimed lives and resulted in the destruction of property. This act of callousness is a direct affront to our commitment to restoring peace in our communities, and we cannot tolerate it,” he said.
The governor reiterated that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority of his administration, assuring residents that efforts are ongoing to uncover those responsible for the attack.
“As a government, the security of the lives and property of our people is of utmost importance, and we will leave no stone unturned to ensure justice is served,” he added.
Nwifuru disclosed that the state government is working closely with law enforcement agencies to track down and apprehend the perpetrators. He also appealed to residents of the affected community to remain calm and avoid reprisal attacks.
The governor further directed security operatives to immediately mobilise to the area to prevent further attacks and maintain peace.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones and property in this unfortunate incident. Be rest assured that they will not be left alone,” he stated.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki.
Nwifuru also urged communities across the state to embrace peaceful coexistence, stressing that sustainable development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of violence.
