Ogun Police Begins Documentation of SPY Personnel

The Ogun State Police Command has commenced the documentation and verification of personnel attached to the Special Protection Unit, SPY, in the state.

The exercise is part of efforts by the command to strengthen accountability and improve the monitoring of private security personnel operating with firearms across the state.

The command disclosed this in a statement, saying the documentation would cover all SPY personnel under its jurisdiction.

According to the police, the exercise is intended to ensure that only properly authorised and verified personnel continue to perform security duties within the state.

The command urged individuals and organisations employing SPY personnel to cooperate fully with the documentation exercise and provide the required information.

It also warned that personnel who fail to comply with the verification process could face appropriate administrative action.

The police said the initiative would help the command maintain an accurate database of SPY personnel, monitor their activities and ensure compliance with relevant regulations governing the use of firearms and private security services.

The command further appealed to members of the public to report suspicious activities involving SPY personnel or any individual unlawfully carrying firearms to the nearest police station.

The exercise forms part of the Ogun State Police Command’s broader efforts to improve security and strengthen oversight of personnel providing protective services across the state.

The command said the documentation would continue as required to ensure that security operations are conducted by properly identified and authorised personnel.
