The Ogun State Government has taken decisive action by sealing three companies for violating various environmental laws within the state.
Ruili Recycling Limited in Mowe, Robust International PTE Limited, also located in Mowe, and Star Pipe Limited in the Sagamu area of the state are the affected companies.
This move is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to establishing a robust foundation for environmental best practices in the state.

The closures were executed in response to the companies’ failure to adhere to environmental regulations.
Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, announced the closures and provided details on the specific violations. Ruili Recycling, a pet bottles recycling company, was found guilty of discharging wastes and stormwater into its immediate environment, particularly in the vicinity of Christopher University.
This action exposed students to avoidable dangers, and the company was faulted for not obtaining drainage approval to redirect unwanted water appropriately.
Oresanya accused Ruili Recycling of burning solid wastes within its premises, a violation of the state’s Environmental Laws, leading to toxic and hazardous pollution affecting both workers and residents in the surrounding communities.
Regarding Robust International PTE, the commissioner stated that the company illegally demolished a fence adjoining Christopher University to reclaim land.
Additionally, they diverted stormwater to the university’s premises, ignoring government directives for proper remediation.
The third company, Star Pipe Limited in Sagamu, faced closure for refusing requests to install effluent treatment plants.
Company discharged raw and hydrolic acid into its immediate environment, resulting in the contamination of groundwater in nearby communities, rendering the water unsafe and unhygienic.
Commissioner Oresanya emphasized that the companies would remain closed until they rectify all identified lapses.
The state government aims not to permanently shut them down but to ensure they operate in accordance with global environmental standards adopted by the state.
Tinubu’s government remains resolute in preventing further environmental infractions that could negatively impact students and residents in the affected areas.
