The Ogun State Government has debunked a report listing it among states grappling with unpaid salaries, saying it was not owing any worker in the state.
According to a statement signed by Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration had never owed workers salary since inception.
The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a story published in Vanguard newspaper today, Monday, 15 June, 2015, titled: ‘18 states bankrupt, can’t pay salaries’. The said erroneous report lists Ogun State as one of the 18 states.
“We hereby state without any equivocation that since inception of this administration till date, Ogun State does not owe its workers. We are indeed one of the few States in the country, which despite the dwindling Federal allocation, have consistently been paying their workers’ salary as at when due.
“For the avoidance of doubt, workers in Ogun State have received their May 2015 salary”.
