On Friday, the Ogun State election petition tribunal received a certified authentic copy of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s result from the West African Examination Council (WAEC).
Infostride News readers may recall that on July 20, 2018, Olufemi Olaleye, a representative of the examination body in Lagos, appeared before the tribunal sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, in response to a subpoena.
Olaleye said he did not have a copy of Abiodun’s certificate, which the court had demanded.

He explained to the tribunal that he did not have the necessary document “because the council does not keep duplicates of collected WAEC certificates.”
According to him, “the original certificate given to the candidate will be forwarded to WAEC” in order to verify attendance at the exam.
On Friday, however, Fasasi Adetunji Sarafa, another examination council officer from the Abeokuta office, arrived before the tribunal to submit what he claimed to be a certified authentic copy of Abiodun’s WAEC result.
According to Fasasi, he was summoned to the tribunal from WAEC’s Lagos headquarters in order to testify on the organization’s behalf.
The tribunal accepted the copy of the results as RA3, and the WAEC employee was let go afterward.
Although the respondents raised no objections to the document, petitioner’s lawyer Gordy Uche raised objections, stating that additional information would be withheld until the final addresses were issued.
We must raise a major objection. This does not appear to be a WAEC result, as Uche put it.
You may remember that PDP candidate Ladi Adebutu in the March 18 governorship election claimed that Abiodun had falsified his WAEC certificate.
