Okechukwu Isiguzoro, a prominent figure in the apex Igbo sociocultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has called on former President Muhammadu Buhari to publicly address the allegations of his involvement in a conspiracy against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Isiguzoro’s statement comes in response to revelations made by Buhari’s former spokesman, Femi Adesina, in his book titled ‘Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (2015-2023)’.
Adesina quoted Buhari as saying that his government opted to arrest Kanu instead of eliminating him in his hideout, stating, “I feel it’s a favour to give him (Kanu) that opportunity.

Government could have mobilized to eliminate him where he was, but we did not do that.”
Isiguzoro expressed concerns that Buhari’s government may have been acting in accordance with the agenda of international conspirators against the Igbo in Kanu’s arrest.
He emphasized that these suspicions were intensified by Adesina’s revelations, despite initial dismissals by Ohanaeze Ndigbo of international conspiracy theories against the Igbo.
The factional Secretary-General of Ohanaeze urged Buhari to urgently clear his name and address the issues raised without delay, stating that it is imperative for Buhari to set the record straight.
Isiguzoro highlighted the impact of Buhari’s administration on the rise of self-determination struggles in southern Nigeria, attributing the emergence of separatist groups like IPOB to the circumstances created by the government’s actions.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo called on Buhari to provide a comprehensive explanation to the Nigerian people, emphasizing the need for truth and justice to prevail.
Isiguzoro stressed that both the Igbo people and all Nigerians deserve answers regarding the alleged conspiracy against Nnamdi Kanu and the broader implications of Buhari’s administration on the current socio-political landscape.
The statement by Isiguzoro represents the growing concerns within the Igbo community regarding the circumstances surrounding Nnamdi Kanu’s arrest and the need for transparency and accountability in addressing these issues.
