Oke Embarks On Fence-Mending Mission In Ondo PDP For Jonathan

Olusola-OkeA former National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olusola Oke, has called on members of the party in Ondo State to unite for the purpose of ensuring maximum votes for President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 presidential election.

Oke, who was the PDP governorship candidate of the PDP in 2012, has been engaged in a supremacy battle with Governor Olusegun Mimiko, who defected from the Labour Party to PDP.

Oke and Mimiko, however, are united in their quest to see President Jonathan win a second term in office, despite their political battles.

The former PDP guber candidate has been on a tour of the various senatorial districts, appealing to aggrieved members of the party to forego their differences and unite against the APC’s forces of change.

At a stakeholders meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Saturday, Oke told the leaders and the entire membership of the party to embrace peace and shun acts that could jeopardise the party’s chances of victory in the coming elections.

He explained that only unity within the party and among members could bring about victory for President Jonathan.

He said, “I am here today to apologise ‎to all aggrieved members to come back and work for the party in the next election.

“I am impressed with the number of the people here today and I can be rest assured that the party is still strong in the state and a party to beat anytime.

“Forget the past and work for the party and I believe that after this election, we shall be handsomely rewarded. You should not allow opposition to take over this state. We should not fold our arms and give room for opposition to take advantage of our crisis.

“Let us all come together and call those who have left the party to come back into the fold to ensure victory for President Jonathan in the next election. PDP remains one in the state and we must all work together as one big family”.

Oke said the parley was the second phase of the senatorial mobilization of old members of the PDP in the state and was designed to bring them into the party’s fold, which has been polarized between factions loyal to the old structure of the party and those who followed Gov. Mimiko from LP to PDP.
