Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has reaffirmed his confidence that the new leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari will eradicate the rising insurgency caused by the Boko Haram sect.
He, however, urged the sponsors of terrorism in the country to have a change of heart.
The governor, who stated this in his Sallah message on Friday, urged Muslim faithful in the country to use the opportunity of the Eid-el Fitr celebration to pray that Almighty Allah would intervene in the Boko Haram insurgency and make those behind the deadly act know that they have not only blackmailed the nation, but also portrayed Islam in bad light with their activities.
Okorocha, who pointed out that there has never been any problem with Nigeria as a nation and Nigerians as a people, said the problem had always been that of bad leadership.
He, however, stressed that with President Buhari at the helm of affairs, all wrongs created by previous governments would be corrected and hope restored to the people.
Okorocha appealed to those leading or funding the Boko Haram group to have a change of heart since all Muslim leaders in the country and beyond have unanimously condemned their activities.
Governor Okorocha described the emergence of Buhari as President and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party in power in the country as timely, pointing out that nobody would have predicted what would have been the fate of the country if the PDP had continued to remain in power.
