Impeachment procedures against Ondo State Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa have been initiated by the state’s House of Assembly.
On Wednesday, the House called an emergency plenary session to begin impeachment proceedings.
It was learned that the deputy governor was impeached due to serious abuse of power allegations.

It was claimed that Aiyedatiwa had behaved in a way that was not commensurate with his position.
The impeachment notice against Aiyedatiwa has already been signed by 23 of the Assembly’s 26 lawmakers.
Legislators’ signatures on the notice showed that the necessary supermajority of two-thirds had been reached.
As a result of the incident, there was an increased security presence at the assembly’s entrance and throughout the building.
It was learned that the alleged wrongdoing involved the allocation of N300 million for the purchase of a bulletproof Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) for his own usage.
A legislator who requested anonymity said that Aiyedatiwa had directed that the N300 million be taken from the hospice’s general fund.
It is believed that the okay was given when Akeredolu was receiving medical care in Germany.
The Majority Leader, Hon. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, argued that the House needed to speak with the Deputy Governor about the charges before taking any action, citing section 188 of the Nigerian Constitution.
Akoko Southwest 2’s PDP legislator, Tope Agbulu, agreed with the motion.
As a result, the Assembly Clerk Benjamin Jaiyeola was given instructions to advise Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa about the allegations of gross misconduct against him in a letter.
