Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a couple, Lukman Isiaka and Abosede Olanipekun, for allegedly abducting children in Ondo and Osun states.
According to The Nation, the police recovered 10 children reportedly stolen by the couple. However, several distressed parents who visited the police command headquarters lamented that their children were still unaccounted for.
The couple allegedly used various methods to kidnap children and sold each child for N1 million to a 62-year-old woman, Sabina Izuorah, from Ihiala in Anambra State.
Reports indicate that the couple’s arrest followed an investigation into the disappearance of a child reported missing by her mother.
Efforts by InfoStride News to obtain an official statement from the Ondo State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the phone number of the Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, was unreachable.
The case has heightened concerns about child safety in the region, with parents calling for more proactive measures to address the menace of child abductions.
