Even as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) the winner of the 2021 Anambra gubernatorial election, the Osun State Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr Oluwatosin Odeyemi has expressed the hope of obtaining victory at the next year’s Osun gubernatorial election.

Reacting to the sterling performance of APGA in the election of Saturday, November 6, and Tuesday, November 9, 2021 supplementary election, Odeyemi hinted that the NNPP was confident of snatching victory in the Osun gubernatorial election which is slated for Saturday, July 16, 2022.

According to his statement, “The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Anambra governorship election, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, who has taking a lead in the poll is a sign that a victory by NNPP is not unachievable in Osun State.

“NNPP is set to take over Osun State from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the polls.

“We will leave no stone unturned ahead of the gubernatorial election in order to take over the state from the leadership of the APC.”

While maintaining that a victory for his party is assured in the Osun gubernatorial election in 2022, Odeyemi called on the state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola to start preparing his handover note.

He explained that part of the reasons why Governor Oyetola should start preparing his handing over note was because he has mis-governed Osun State and does not see other party leaders and politicians as stakeholders in moving the state forward.

The Osun NNPP chairman who noted that the state has been suffering neglect and those in charge playing politics instead of facing governance, added that Osun has been worse for it.

In his words, “Governance in Osun State has never been this worst. Right from the regime of Chief Bisi Akande to the immediate past administration of Aregbesola, the state has not been this bad.

“The victory of our party is assured in Osun State come next year.

“We are also using this opportunity to inform Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State to be ready to hand over power to NNPP.

“Oyetola does not see other party leaders as stakeholders in Osun State but rather see us as enemies.

“As APGA has won the election in Anambra State, Oyetola should not look down on any party because the NNPP is also well prepared to take over the realm of affairs of Osun State from the APC, ” Odeyemi affirmed.
