Oba Yusuf Jelili Olaiya, the Ajeniju of Halleluyah community in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, was reportedly beaten unconscious on Friday during a dispute over a Jummat service.
According to reports, youths from the Ido-Osun community allegedly attacked the monarch for appointing Hammed Tijani as the Chief Imam of Halleluyah community, located on Ido-Osun land.
The attack occurred when the newly appointed Chief Imam attempted to conduct a Jummat service.

The monarch sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a government hospital in Osogbo for medical treatment.
A security source revealed that the situation escalated into violence, leading to the vandalization of the monarch’s palace and a physical attack on Oba Olaiya.
The source further disclosed that the monarch has been taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
The crisis stems from a long-standing dispute between the Ido-Osun and Ede communities over the installation of the Ajeniju of Halleluyah by the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, in 2024.
Governor Adeleke Condemns Attack, Orders Arrest of Perpetrators
Reacting to the incident, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, condemned the attack and issued a stern warning to those involved. In a statement released on Saturday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke directed security agencies to apprehend the ringleaders and restore peace to the area.
“Resorting to violence to resolve communal disputes is unacceptable, and those found culpable will face the full wrath of the law,” the Governor stated.
Governor Adeleke revealed that he had spoken with Oba Olaiya, who is currently recuperating from the attack.
He also directed the Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Oba Olayinka Oyetunde Ishola, to call the youths in his domain to order while law enforcement addresses the situation.
The Governor further instructed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Dosu Babatunde, to initiate immediate peace-building efforts in collaboration with security agencies.
“Any community with grievances is free to approach relevant government agencies for conflict resolution.
We will not tolerate violence under any guise,” Governor Adeleke added.
The Osun State Government has vowed to ensure justice is served and to foster peace between the affected communities.
