Over 165 persons apprehended in the course of military operations on terror in three states in the North-East are to be released from custody in compliance with presidential directives,” the Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukayode has revealed on Friday January 10, 2013.
The suspects, he said are those who were recommended for release by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) which was set up by the Defence Headquarters in 2013; comprising one hundred and fifty seven of them from the facilities in Borno State, nine of them from Yobe State and one suspect from Adamawa State.
According to the report from the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, other detainees in time past, particularly women and children have benefitted from similar gestures which started in May 2013. More suspects in the same category, it indicated have been earmarked to benefit from the present exercise. Adding, the suspects will be released to their respective State Governments.
