The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced its preparedness to reclaim power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 governorship election.
The declaration was made by APC’s Acting Chairman in Oyo State, Alhaji Olayide Abas, during an address to party leaders from Ibadan Outer City Zone on Wednesday in Ibadan, the state capital.
This statement follows the defeat of APC candidates in the last two gubernatorial elections.
In 2019, PDP’s Seyi Makinde triumphed over APC’s Adebayo Adelabu, and in 2023, Makinde secured a second term by defeating APC’s Teslim Folarin and other candidates.
Alhaji Abas expressed confidence in the party’s potential to reclaim the Agodi Government House, assuring party members that APC is mobilizing support across the state to ensure victory in 2027.
“With the array of eminent personalities in this delegation and the message conveyed by your visit today, I am pleased to state that our party is prepared for the challenges ahead.
We shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that APC returns to power in Oyo State,” Abas stated.
He noted that peace and harmony have been restored within the party, with many former members returning and requests pouring in from members of other parties, including the PDP, to join APC.
“Last week in Ibadan North, we welcomed hundreds of former PDP chieftains into our party. The momentum is strong, and we are working round the clock to solidify APC’s position as the party to beat in Oyo State,” Abas concluded.
